Hear From Our Guests

We embarked on our journey from Bengaluru on the 11th of March to Kairos Resort, Yelagiri. Our objective for this exploration was to spend some time with nature and biodiversity. I am a retired service person and a bird and wildlife photographer, accompanied by my wife.

Kairos is known for its rich eco-conscious resort that blends luxury with environmental responsibility amid lush landscapes.

On the first day, we were welcomed by the alarm chirping and singing of birds from our room. Various songbirds like the Oriental Magpie Robin, Indian White-eye, Tickell's Blue Flycatcher, and Red-whiskered Bulbuls greeted us early in the morning from 4 am We took a small walk around our room to identify the sounds of the birds (using the eBird app) and took pictures with my Canon zoom camera with a 100-400mm lens.

The day continued as we roamed around the beautiful, lush serenity of the Kairos campus, with tall trees and various flora and fauna. With more than one hundred trees around Kairos, it is a blanket covered with rich biodiversity (as we saw from the top of the high rise in one of the villages). Yes, Kairos is a truly eco-conscious resort.

The variety of plants and the cool, fresh air provided deep relaxation for our minds. I sighted around twenty species of birds in and around Kairos. I recorded two lists in my eBird app (a global online database of bird records used by hundreds of thousands of birders around the world) and submitted them. The birds include Rufous Treepie, Orange-headed Thrush, Copper-smith Barbet, White-cheeked Barbets, Drongos, Warblers, House Sparrows, Common Iora, Red-whiskered Bulbul, Red-vented Bulbul, Indian White-eye, Asian Green Bee- eater, Common Tailorbird, Pied Bushchat, Purple-rumped Sunbird, etc. This rich biodiversity makes Kairos a beautiful place to stay.

The evening at Kairos was extraordinary. We witnessed an awesome sunset amidst the lush green valley of Yelagiri Hills. From the balcony of our villa, we could see the beautiful sun setting, with birds chirping and returning to their nests, and the cool evening breeze led us into meditation for a few minutes.

Seeing the rich biodiversity at Kairos and nearby, we extended our trip for one more day to explore more places in the area. Kairos is quite near to Jalagamparai Waterfalls, Fundera Birds Park, AR Thanga Kottai, Swami Malai, and various trekking routes. Kairos offers a timeless escape for nature enthusiasts like us who want to explore biodiversity, flora, and fauna.

We explored the Yelagiri Nature Park, which is close to Kairos. The park has a water fountain, rose garden (kept in a greenhouse), aquarium, musical fountain, artificial waterfalls, and lots of green and colorful flowers. You can easily spend two to three hours relaxing in the park, but we were searching for birds. We were blessed and fortunate to see around ten bird species during our two-hour visit. The list includes Indian Paradise Flycatcher (male, white), Black-rumped Flameback, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Common Iora, Ashy Drongo, Greenish Warbler, Tawny-bellied Babbler, Tickell's Blue Flycatcher, etc. These lists were recorded in our eBird app.

The lodging and hospitality at Kairos are commendable. The rooms are large, and the balcony sit-out allowed us to spend many hours with nature. The food we preferred was South Indian, and it was served homely and with love. On the whole, I recommend Kairos for a pure immersion in nature and the experience of rich biodiversity.
